The Dirty Dozen
According to foodnews.org, these are the dirtiest plants, with the most pesticide residue:
- apples
- bell peppers
- celery
- cherries
- imported grapes
- nectarines (the highest)
- peaches
- pears
- potatoes
- raspberries
- spinach
- strawberries
The "cleanest" produce is:
- asparagus (seriously, don't buy asparagus out of season though. It's just not the same as that fresh, green, spring crop!)
- avocados
- bananas
- broccoli
- cauliflower
- corn
- kiwis
- mangoes
- onions
- papayas
- pineapple
- peas
